(RNN) - On July 14, Chance The Rapper tweeted about a conversation he had with SoundCloud CEO Alexander Ljung and said that the service is not closing down.

This came after a report that SoundCloud was closing its San Francisco and London offices, firing 173 employees, or 40 percent of the overall staff.

The report also claimed that SoundCloud only had enough money to last until the fourth quarter of 2017, according to TechCrunch.

A SoundCloud rep responded in a statement, saying that there were “a number inaccuracies” in the TechCrunch report, according to Variety.

The report alarmed loyal SoundCloud listeners and supporters including Chance The Rapper.

Chance sent out numerous tweets in support of the streaming service and the impact that it has had on indie artists.

Singer Khalid also chimed in with his support and love for SoundCloud.

Ljung responded to the reports with a blog entitled Soundcloud is here to stay.

“The music you love on SoundCloud isn’t going away, the music you shared or uploaded isn’t going away, because SoundCloud is not going away. Not in 50 days, not in 80 days or anytime in the foreseeable future. Your music is safe,” Ljung wrote.

Chance The Rapper took action and released a new song exclusively on SoundCloud to show his support for the streaming service.

“As an active member of the SoundCloud community, Chance connected with co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Alex Ljung, to inquire about the rumors and speculation circulating,” a SoundCloud spokesperson said.
