PARKVILLE, MD (WBAL/CNN) – Police arrested a man who climbed onto the front of a moving school bus because he was angry someone allegedly threw a bottle from the bus and hit his car.

A school bus was sitting in traffic next to the vehicle of 68-year-old Leverne Doran Thursday afternoon, according to Baltimore County Police.

“Allegedly, a bottle of some sort was thrown out of the bus towards that vehicle. At that point, the driver of that vehicle got out of his vehicle,” Sgt. Andrea Bylen said.

Bylen says Doran started banging on the bus door and tried to get inside. The driver would not open the door because he was concerned for his and the students’ safety.

“So, the man went around to the front of the bus and stood in front of the bus as it began to move forward,” Bylen said.

In a video of the scene, Doran is seen on the front of the bus, hitting the hood and holding on to a mirror. He yells at the driver to open the door, but the driver refuses. The driver is heard repeatedly telling Doran to get off the bus.

The school bus driver says he was headed to a nearby police precinct because he needed police assistance. Before he arrived, an off-duty officer who was present in the area intervened, according to Bylen.

Doran was arrested without incident.

Police say Doran caused damage to the bus. He has been released from custody but faces several charges, including disturbing the peace and destruction of property, according to online court records.

Police are investigating to determine if anything was thrown from the bus at Doran’s car. They say the students were not in danger at any point.

If anyone gets in a situation where something has been thrown at their car, police say they should write down as much identifying information as possible and call for help. They say not to confront another driver.
