PASADENA, TX (KTRK/CNN) - Warning. This item contains material that some viewers may find disturbing due to the graphic nature.
Police are looking for a person who attacked a family's cat with a screwdriver.
"It's scary to think evil is lurking that close to home," said Samantha Pastor, the cat's owner.
While she and her family were out of town before Christmas, her pet sitter let Tito the cat outside the home.
When he came back, less than an hour later, he had a screwdriver lodged in his head.
"I was scared he wasn't going to make it," Pastor said.
The veterinarian told Pastor it appeared Tito was held down when he was stabbed.
"Who would do something like that?" Pastor said. "A sick individual, a very sick individual."
Pasadena police are looking for information on the culprit.
One thing is certain, Pastor says she won't let Tito back outside alone.
"I'm afraid if I let him out he may not come back or worse," Pastor said. "I have two small kids, I have two dogs, we are really safe with someone walking around doing something like that to an animal."
She and her family will hold him close, thankful it wasn't worse.
"He's the luckiest cat in Pasadena," she said.
