Captured Mexican drug financier helped move heroin into US, officials say

MEXICO CITY (CNN) - Authorities detained a man identified as a financial operator of the Sinaloa Cartel in Santa Fe, Mexico City on Thursday.

Victor Manuel Felix Beltran, alias "El Vic," has an extradition order to the United States.

According to authorities, El Vic collaborated very close with the children of the famous drug kingpin, Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán. El Vic is the son of Victor Manuel Felix, who is the father-in-law of the son of  El Chapo Guzman.

His job at the organization was money laundering associated with trafficking heroin from Mexico to the U.S.  El Vic faces charges in a court in Illinois for drug trafficking and money laundering.

Guzman is facing trial in the U.S. in April of 2018.
