(CNN) - Esmond Allock would have been forgiven for assuming, at 108 years old, he wouldn’t be meeting another Esmond.
The Canadian centenarian had 70 descendants - six children, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren – without a single boy taking his name. On the 71st descendant, that finally changed.
Jenna Lehne, one of Allock's great-grandchildren, named her boy Esmond when she had him a year ago. Last week, her great-grandfather finally got to meet a long-overdue namesake.
Lehne posted a video online of the meeting. Her great-grandfather tells the boy: “You’re a pretty good-lookin’ guy. Jeez, a nice fella.”
According to Lehne, the name “Esmond” wasn’t totally neglected - some family members do have it as a middle name.
After nearly 50 great- and great-great grandchildren, it might start to get hard to keep track of everyone. It’s safe to assume little Esmond, however, ought to be easy to remember.
