CHICAGO (WBBM/CNN) – A bust of President Abraham Lincoln has been burned on the south side of Chicago.
The large bust has been a fixture in the West Englewood neighborhood for decades. But early this week, someone vandalized the statue, which already had been chipped, according to WBBM.
Alderman Ray Lopez said that someone wrapped it in tar paper and set it on fire.
The act was especially upsetting to Jack McGrath, who says his father helped put the bust in the neighborhood in the 1920s.
Both Lopez and McGrath want to see the bust restored.
