HOOVER DAM, NV (KVVU/CNN) - A man from the United Kingdom has been fined for jumping into waters near the Hoover Dam and swimming from the Arizona side to the Nevada side.
The man from North Wales was visiting Las Vegas for a bachelor party. He said he made the jump after a lot of - let's just call it - liquid courage, and some intense triple-digit heat. “It was hot, so I jumped in the water,” Arron Hughes said, adding that it took him 45 minutes to swim from one state to the other.
Hughes was arrested and fined $330 for his swim, but felt it was worth it.
“It’s a story we’ll tell for ages,” 28-year-old Hughes told KVVU.
