(CNN) - Black Friday was a big win for online retailers.
American shoppers spent a record $5 billion online in 24 hours, almost 17 percent more than last year, according to data firm Digital Insights.
Early estimates show traditional brick-and-mortar stores did well too. Shoppertrack says foot traffic in stores dipped only 1 percent.
Monday is expected to be an even bigger shopping day. Known as Cyber Monday, experts say as much as $6 billion could be spent online.
