(WCVB/CNN) - Beards are making a comeback in the U.S. and that's bad news Gillette razor sales.

According to recent consumer research, while some men grow full beards and goatees, others are simply shaving less

Gillette's north America vice president says skipping a shave here and there isn't considered lazy or disrespectful these days.

According to one research firm, the more relaxed approach to shaving is seen largely among men under 45 years old.

Gillette says in developed markets, men on average are getting in about two fewer shaves per month than they did a decade ago.

That might not seem like a lot, but it does have an impact.

Nielsen data indicates that manual razor and blade sales in the U.S. have dropped each year for the past three years.
