(KCAL/CNN) - bookseller Barnes & Noble had lower sales in the second quarter of this year compared to the same time in 2016, and the reason may be the lack of Harry Potter.
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" hit store shelves during the second quarter of 2016.
But there was no new installment this year, which had an impact on the company's bottom line.
Sales fell 8 percent and the company said it expects sales will be flat for the rest of the current fiscal year.
Stocks fell 10 percent in early trading after the report was released, leaving shares down 37 percent so far this year.
