(CNN) - The Baltimore Ravens official national anthem singer has resigned after three years on the job.
Joey Odoms announced his resignation Tuesday on social media.
The move comes after numerous NFL players protested during the national anthem.
Odoms said his decision was based on the tone and actions of many NFL fans.
He was a member of the Maryland National Guard and served in Afghanistan where he met Ravens coach John Harbaugh.
The Ravens issued a statement thanking Odoms for his work.
