(CNN) - Apparently, most women don't like to be compared to used cars. That's a lesson Audi had to learn the hard way.
The Chinese commercial shows a young couple on their wedding day.
The groom's mother suddenly interrupts the ceremony to inspect the bride, pulling on her ears and nose and looking at her teeth.
The mom appears satisfied and gives the couple the OK, then shoots a disapproving look at the bride's chest.
The next scene shows an Audi on the road, with a voiceover that says, "An important decision must be made carefully."
Many Chinese customers took to Weibo, China's Twitter, to blast the German automaker, calling the ad sexist. Some said they would boycott Audis as a result.
This speed bump isn't good for Audi. Its sales fell 15 percent during the first half of this year.
