(RNN) – Sept 12 is a big day for Apple: 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, which revolutionized communication.
To celebrate the event, the company will launch the iPhone 8 – but it comes with a hefty price tag.
Analysts predict that Apple will release three new models, and the top-of-the-line version will cost a jaw-dropping $1,000.
Apple is playing catchup to rivals like LG and Samsung, who have released phones whose screens run nearly edge-to-edge.
The new iPhone is likely to use a similar design and have an edge-to-edge screen. Your face may become your password as new 3-D recognition technology would allow you to unlock your phone and make payments. Hopefully, it will be better than the Samsung 8, which has allowed people to get in with only a photo of the phone’s owner.
You may have to relearn how to use your iPhone – the familiar “home” button may be replaced by a digital bar.
It also will allow wireless charging.
The company may be taking a page out of Snapchat’s playbook with reality-augmentation for photos. New laser technology will make those famous filters look even more realistic.
