(CNN) - Top Hollywood executives have chosen Anita Hill to chair the newly formed commission on sexual harassment.
Hill leveled sexual harassment allegations against Clarence Thomas during his 1991 Supreme Court confirmation hearings.
She alleged the incident occurred while she worked with Thomas at the Department of Education.
Hill said she is proud to lead the new commission and "it is time to end the culture of silence."
The commission was formed after allegations of sexual abuse by powerful men in the entertainment business, including Harvey Weinstein, Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey, Louis CK, Russell Simmons and Sen. Al Franken (D-MN).
