AUGUSTA, MAINE (RNN) – A Maine man fought city hall – and scored a temporary victory – when he dumped a cup loaded with dozens of bedbugs onto a counter, causing the building to be evacuated and closed.
The man went to the Augusta City Center, and approached the general assistance office, where he asked for a form to request aid. He was told he didn’t qualify, according to City manager William Bridgeo, and he emptied the cup of the blood-sucking vermin in retaliation.
"They're your problem now!" he said, according to an employee.
The angry man had complained to the code enforcement office that his former apartment was infested by bedbugs. He left the building but returned after he had showed the cup of bedbugs to a manager at his new apartment and told he couldn’t live there, according to The New York Post.

Bridgeo said police were contacted and they were searching for the man. Police have not released the man’s name or if charges would be filed. One employee had at least one bug land on them. Another employee grabbed a bottle of Windex and sprayed down the bugs to immobilize and contain them.
An exterminator was called and the office was expected to be re-opened in two or three days.
