(CNN) - Angelina Jolie says Brad Pitt is not pulling his weight when it comes to supporting their six children.

Court documents show the actress is asking for a retroactive child support from the actor.

Jolie's attorney writes Pitt has "paid no meaningful child support" since their 2016 separation.

The former couple share three sons and three daughters - all under 17, but Jolie has primary physical custody of the children.

Pitt countered on Wednesday saying he has given Jolie $1.3 million and another $8 million since they separated two years ago.

A source close to Pitt accuses Jolie trying to "deliberately misrepresent the situation."

The same source says when it comes to the children Pitt has "continued to fulfill his commitments."
