(CNN) - Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Monday brushed off an Axios report that he is in the running to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Speculation about Sessions' fate came after President Donald Trump expressed remorse about picking him to be AG.
Trump appeared frustrated that Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russia's election meddling.
Giuliani told CNN Monday that he thinks Sessions' recusal was appropriate.
“I believe that Sessions made the right decision under the rules of The Justice Department, yes," he said.
Sessions didn't indicate any plans to resign following Trump's New York Times interview.
