(RNN) - When it comes to quality of life, America's got it pretty good. We've got the best movies, sports and stellar food - but America is close to last when it comes to guaranteed paid leave.
While few countries offer workers a total of 30 mandatory paid vacation days, America mandates absolutely none. And though there's no law in the U.S. that requires employers offer their employees paid leave, most larger companies offer 10 to start. In 2012, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 77 percent of Americans had access to paid leave.
Many European countries offer above-average paid leave, but here are a few examples from around the globe:
Kuwait - Offers 30 days of paid leave annually.
Sweden - Offers 25 days of paid leave annually.
Russia - Offers 20 days of paid leave annually.
Puerto Rico - Offers 15 days of paid leave annually.
Japan - Offers 10 days of paid leave annually.
China - Offers 5 days of paid leave annually.
Micronesia - Offers no days of paid leave annually.
(These numbers do not include holidays.)
