ARANSAS PASS, TX (RNN) - While Hurricane Harvey dumps heavy rains on southern Texas, emergency workers are venturing out to assess damage.

At least one rescue has already been made.

The Aransas Pass Police Department shared a photo on its Facebook page of an officer identified as Jack McCarty braving the high winds to save an American flag that was being battered in the storm.

"While some dishonor and desecrate her, APPD Ofc. Jack McCarty will stop at nothing to honor and save her," post read.
