(CNN) - Facebook is banning ads for cryptocurrencies to help crack down on scammers.
That ban includes ads for payment systems like Bitcoin.
Facebook said in a blog post Tuesday that promotions for those kinds of products may be deceptive and threaten security.
The new ad policy, which Facebook calls "intentionally broad," also restricts ads for binary options and initial coin offerings.
It will be enforced on Instagram as well.
