Homerville, GA (WTXL) -- The Clinch County Panthers are not satisfied with just one state title.  After winning in 2015, the Panthers determined to do it again.

"These kids want to do something that has never been done," head coach Jim Dickerson said. "Those are lofty goals, but we do set goals and these kids remember what it was like in that Georgia Dome atmosphere and when you get a taste of that you want to get back."

The Panthers have won six titles in school history, but it has never been done in  back to back years.  They have skill position players back on offense, but lost a good portion of their offense depth line to graduation.  On defense, the secondary is back, but Clinch lost significant portions of the players up front.

"We feel like we have potential," Dickerson said.  "It's not like we are dealing with a bare cupboard, but we have to work on fundamentals.  We just have to get these guys to have some reps and get them some experience."

Quarterback Charles McClelland rushed for 173 yards in the state championship win last season. However, to be an even better quarterback, the Clinch coaching staff is aiming to develop his passing abilities.

"Charles is a tremendous talent,"  Dickerson said.  "I'm just glad he is on our team. He hit some key passes in the semifinals, but he has to get a little more efficient at it, but Charles is a tremendous football player and a better person."

Clinch opens the season against Bleckley County on August 19th.
