VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - This Friday night, the Valwood Valiants return home after opening up the season with a loss last week against Madison-Ridgeland, a loss head coach Ashley Henderson said served up his team a huge slice of humble pie.
Valwood was last year's AAA GISA State Champion, so the loss, a reminder the Valiants still have some work to do. Henderson notes they return a bunch of skill guys, but the entire starting offensive line is gone, and that hit hurts on the leadership front.
"You lose those guys, you lose the heart and soul of your team, you know your leaders, the guys that will jerk a knot in somebody," he said. "We're just looking for who is that guy up front. That's what we're waiting on. We're learning, and it's a process and we just have to keep getting better every day."
Valwood returns home this week for a date with Memorial Day.
