THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - The Thomasville Bulldogs kick off the regular season next week against Cairo, but on Friday, they get a little bit of a tune-up as they take on Pelham in a preseason scrimmage.

The Bulldogs head in to the 2016 season under a new regime, as Zach Grage took over the reigns after last year's 1-8 season. The Bulldogs return six starters on each side of the football, and Grage said you can expect them to be physical on defense.

The biggest obstacle right now? Gaining confidence and believing they can win after going 15-17 the last three seasons.

"With winning, you just try to teach them how to do the small things to help them win, and hopefully the scoreboard takes care of itself at the end," said Grage. "They'll carry themselves with a little bit of confidence, a little bit of swagger when they walk off the bus knowing that they're prepared."

Grage has quite the pedigree. He spent six seasons at Colquitt County as co-offensive coordinator, and he hopes to implement the same style of offense at Thomasville.

"Preparation I think is the key, knowing that they're practicing harder then the team they might be playing," he said. "Whether that's true or not, we just have to get them to believe that. We have the talent out there,we just have to put them in the right places and use them."

Thomasville travels to Cairo for the first game of the regular season on August 19th.
