SNEADS, Fl. (WTXL) - The Sneads Pirates are looking to change things around from last year's 1-8 season.
Head coach Bill Thomas says this is the fastest team he's had since he got to Sneads. They may be speedy, but this group is raw in a lot of spots.
Cortavious Garrett will take the reigns at quarterback. Thomas says their strength comes on the offensive line, as the Pirates have four linemen back.
The defense, while the ceiling is high, is young, and Thomas said the focus for this team is just to win every Friday night.
"We believe that's the realest of goals, every Friday night," he said. "We're not going to look at week two until we get through week one, and that's our goal. This group has really given us a great summer, and boy they have worked hard and I've probably run this group harder than any group I've ever ran to give us some conditioning. They've stepped up to the challenge, they're fun to coach. It's gotten me excited."
Up first for Sneads? Munroe in preseason action next Friday night.
