Tallahassee, FL (WTXL) -- Chiles coach Garrett Jahn was happy his senior class earned a taste of the playoffs and finished with a winning record last season. Chiles made its first playoff trip in school history. As successful as last season was, Chiles still finished 1-4 down the stretch and lost three games in the fourth quarter. This season the Timberwolves are focused on finishing.
"I remind these guys every day that we lost the district championship on the last play of the game," Jahn said. "We lost the district championship two days later on the last play of the game. If that doesn't motivate you during your offseason, I don't know what does. All these things I think about every night since the season ended, and I try to make sure these guys do."
Chiles returns skilled position players on offense like wide receiver Kris Reed and running back Shane Sanders. The Timberwolves return nine players on defense. Jahn believes they are more athletic and have more size than last year's team.
"We have Shane back at running back led the area in touchdowns and yards," Jahn said. "We have Kris all around athlete, wideout, cornerback, and playmaker back. We Avery Thomas 2A player of the year last year transfer from NFC, so the quarterback position we feel pretty good. So stay healthy and if we have that one goal, that one drive, I think we can play good football this year."
Chiles starts off the season against East Gadsden on August 26th.
