QUITMAN, Ga. (WTXL) - While most high school football teams are still practicing, the Brooks County Trojans already have a scrimmage game under their belt.
Longtime head coach Maurice Freeman notes the Trojans biggest obstacle this season is their youth. Brooks County returns just two guys on offense, and three on defense.
"We're going to start and finish with discipline. We have to be a much more disciplined team," said Freeman. "When you're young, you can't afford to make a lot of mistakes if you're trying to prepare for the play-offs, and that's what we're trying to prepare for."
The Trojans fell in the third round of the AA Playoffs last year, and to make it back, Freeman said they'll have to be sound fundamentally.
"We have to minimize our mistakes," he said. "If we minimize our mistakes by learning how to be a very disciplined team, so that's probably the biggest thing we have to work on."
The Trojans open up the season August 19th against Cook.
