MONTICELLO, Fla. (WTXL) - High school football teams across the country are going through the grind of fall camp, and for Aucilla Christian's Colby Roberts, it's a camp he's been excited about. That's what having a record number of kids participating can do to you.
This season, Roberts saw the highest number of kids come to summer workouts, and he's looking to dress around twenty athletes this season.
Roberts added that his kids trained hard this off season, and the physicality of this team is noticeable. Last season, Aucilla was young, and battled injuries, but this year that curse is now a blessing as the Warriors have a lot of experience at several positions.
"Positives coming off of that is as a coach, what I've experienced in my career is the biggest jump in performance on the field, is the jump from 10th to 11th grade," said Roberts. "We had a pile of 10th graders get a lot of experience last year, so that's what we're leaning on going into this season. The kids are buying in, and we're looking forward to moving forward in the 2016 season."
Aucilla Christian hosts Lighthouse Christian August 19th to open up the season.
