MOULTRIE, Ga. (WTXL) - When you think of Moultrie, the Colquitt County Packers football team comes to mind. The Pack has gone 30-0 the past two seasons, winning back to back State Championships, and being named National Champions after their 2015 campaign.

Moultrie is also known for diving, and Moss Farms has been winning National Champions long before the Packers.

"It's just a gym in the middle of nowhere," laughed Chris Heaton, head coach of Moss Farms Diving. "It's the 'if you build it they will come' kind of mentality."

It's a pool of dreams, and next month, they'll host the USA Diving National Championships, where 700 divers and their families will come to Moultrie from all across the country.

"It's going to be a massive amount of preparation and it's going to bring a lot of commercial activity to our town and a lot of recognition," said Colquitt County Schools Interim Superintendent Doug Howell. "We're just very excited to host this event."

"The economic impact on this community is going to be astronomical for us," said Heaton. "It's in excess of four million."

A lot of people, spending a lot of money, with a lot of support coming from all sides of the community to make it happen.

"The school system is going to work with them as far as maybe loaning them things they might need," said Howell.

"This is really a community effort," said Heaton. "Our sponsorships and just the support we have from the community is incredible."

The National Championships kick off August 1st, and run through the 14th.
