HUMBLE, Texas (AP) — Steve Wheatcroft shot a 5-under-67 to take the lead at the midway point of the PGA's Houston Open. Wheatcroft had to qualify Monday to make it into the field and has made the most of it through two rounds with a 10-under total.

Jason Kokrak and D.A. Points are one shot back and two ahead of Stewart Cink (sink) and Brian Davis.

Rory McIlroy also shot a 70 and is 1-under for the tournament. That might be good enough for him to make the cut.

McIlroy will play next week in the Texas Open, wanting one more tournament to try to find his form ahead of the first major of the year. The two-time major champion has only played five tournaments this year, making just two cuts.
