LAKELAND, Fla. (WTXL) - The West Gadsden Panthers have always run into Goliath when it comes to postseason play. In 2013, they ran into a Holmes County squad led by Chris Walker, who played at Florida. Last year, they were eliminated by a Chipley team led by now Florida State freshman Trent Forrest.

Head coach Andrew Moten believes this year is the Panthers year, and they got off to a good start. West Gadsden beat Hawthorne Tuesday 55-38 to advance to the Class 1A State Championship game, where they will face Wildwood.

Tip-off for that match-up is slated for 6:00 on Wednesday.
