TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State softball enters 2014 ranked in the top 15 in several preseason polls. One main reason why is junior pitcher Lacey Waldrop.

On Friday, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced Waldrop is on the Watch List for the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.

"It is great for Lacey to be named one of the top 50 players to watch this year," said head coach Lonni Alameda. "She works very hard and is excited about the opportunity to go out and compete all season long."

Waldrop is coming off a sophomore season that saw her go 24-10 in the circle with a 1.53 ERA. She was named a Third Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and was a member of the All-ACC First Team.
