TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The team accolades and predictions have come in for the No. 5 Florida State softball team, and now the individual preseason honors have arrived for two of its most decorated seniors. Lacey Waldrop and Maddie O’Brien were named to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2015 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year on Wednesday.

Waldrop, the 2014 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, is just the seventh former winner of the award with the opportunity to win it a second time. The Chester, Va., native was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year and an NFCA First Team All-American 2014 as she led the nation with 38 wins and also finished third nationally with a 1.13 ERA.

O’Brien returns for her final season in the Garnet and Gold after recording one of the best offensive seasons in program history. She led the NCAA with 83 RBI and was second in the country in both home runs (24) and slugging percentage (.942).
