VALDOSTA, Ga. - No. 14 Delta State used a big third quarter to defeat No. 13 Valdosta State 49-32 in Gulf South Conference football action at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium Saturday evening.
The Statesmen, who improved to 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in league action, tallied 267 yard of passing during the decisive third quarter while scoring all 14 of the frame's points. Tyler Sullivan did most of the damage in the frame as he completed 12-of-16 passes for 222 yards, including an 85-yard touchdown pass to Casey Osborne that posted DSU to a 42-26 lead.
Meanwhile, the Delta State defense limited Valdosta State, which fell to 2-1 and 0-1 in GSC play, to just 66 yards of offense in the frame.
Valdosta State returns to action next Saturday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. when it travels to Florence, Ala. to face No. 5 North Alabama at Braly Stadium.
