TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the 10th straight season, the Florida State volleyball team will head to the NCAA Tournament, where it will take on in-state rival Florida in the first round. This marks the program’s 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
FSU is now one of only 11 teams in the country who have made the last 10 NCAA Tournaments (along with Colorado State, Florida, Hawaii*, Kentucky, Nebraska*, Penn State*, Stanford*, Texas*, USC* and Washington*).
Florida State finished the regular season ranked second in the ACC after being projected to finish third in the preseason poll. The team will finish this season with its 19th straight winning record and its 10th straight season finishing above 30 in the RPI.
The Seminoles have gone 18-22 all-time at the NCAA Tournament since former head coach Cecile Reynaud led FSU to its first tournament appearance in 1983. Florida State has posted a 16-8 postseason mark under Poole, making five Sweet 16 appearances (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016), two Elite Eight’s (2009, 2011) and an appearance at the Final Four in 2011.
Florida State is led statistically by Payton Caffrey (462 kills), Brianne Burkert (641 assists), Kelsey Wicinski (467 digs) and Taryn Knuth (185 blocks).
