HAHIRA, Ga. (WTXL) - High school football games take an extra hint of importance this week, as playoffs are in full swing across South Georgia and North Florida.
The Valwood Valiants already have a week of postseason play under their belt, as the first round of GISA Playoffs hit the field last week. This Friday night, Valwood hits the road to Pinewood Christian. Head Coach Ashley Henderson said although raw in some positions, his team has grown and matured a lot this year.
Henderson acknowledges Friday night will be a battle, but the team is excited for the big game.
"You feel the buzz in the air as the games get more exciting and you get all the kids, the young kids down in the lower school talking to you about it," said Henderson. "When you read to them or what not they're fired up about it, just as fired up about it as our boys. It's big for the school. Usually a school this size, I've been told how the football season goes is how the school year's going to go, so hopefully we can finish this thing out right."
Valwood's match-up at Pinewood Christian kicks off at 7:30 on Friday night.
