VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Tuesday was all about celebration in Valdosta, as the Valdosta High School football team, and the Wildcat faithful, celebrated their recent State Championship by throwing a parade.

Before the festivities, the Cats hit the field for their final practice in pads before heading west to Texas for Friday night's Geico Bowl Series match-up against Chandler out of Arizona.

To receive an invite to the series means you're one of the best, as just four teams from across the country received one. For many of the guys, the trip will mark their first time on an airplane, and expanding these kids' horizons out of South Georgia exactly the appeal of this game.

"They get to see another state, the way things are done differently, the nice facility at Frisco, Texas, that's why I wanted it," said head coach Alan Rodemaker. "Why they want it, I just think they want to put Valdosta back on the scene. We're playing a top 20 team. It's been a while since we've been there on a National level. I'm excited about it and I'm sure these kids are."

The Cats match-up with Chandler can be watched live on ESPNU on Friday. Kickoff is at 6:00/ET.
