VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta State softball team began their journey to the Division II World Series on Thursday, notching a win over Shorter in Regional play. On Friday, the Blazers took on Rollins, and looked to stay in the winner's bracket with a win.
Valdosta State would break a 1-1 tie in the top of the 6th, when Chelsea Canara doubled to left field, driving in a run to put the Blazers up 2-1. Valdosta State held the lead until the bottom of the 7th, when Rollins tied things up off a Jule Kranz solo home run, and then Brittany Johnson won it for the Tars in walk-off fashion, as a single to left drove in the winning run.
The loss forced the Blazers into a win or go home situation against West Florida Friday night, a game which they lost 6-2, ending their season.
