VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta State football team beat Delta State in record breaking, triple overtime fashion, a game that keeps them very much in the hunt for a playoff spot, but they still have some work to do.
The Blazers close out the regular season schedule on Saturday in a pretty much must win game against Florida Tech. Seven teams from Region II make the Division II playoffs. Right now, the Valdosta State is 7th, while Florida Tech is 6th. Both teams are in do or die mode or Saturday, as a loss could possibly force them out of the playoff picture.
Saturday is also homecoming for the Blazers, but head coach David Dean not worried about the team losing focus, as he says the team is ready.
"You have to put all those things aside, don't worry about the distractions that go on," he said on Monday. "We have to worry about the task at hand, worry about the preparation and the process that you're having to do to get to Saturday at three o'clock, know your assignment, know your job, and forget all the outside distractions. Focus in on your job, your assignment, what the team needs to do to be successful."
The Blazers match-up with Florida Tech kicks off at 3:00 on Saturday.
