Valdosta State Baseball Preps For Showdown With Top Ranked Tampa

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The Valdosta State Blazer baseball team is coming off a series win over Union, a match-up where they battled rain, win, and cold. The elements, making this club tougher, and it's good timing too, as the Blazers gear up for the number one team in the country in the University of Tampa.

Valdosta State is 16-11 on the year, and head coach Greg Guilliams said their pitching has been solid for most of the season. He added the offense has come around, and now, the Blazers are just looking for consistency, and playing Tampa will be an excellent gage for his program.

"We are pretty excited playing the number one team in the country," he said on Tuesday. "I think our guys are excited. We just have to make sure we come out and play fundamental baseball and we will be fine."

The match-up with Tampa is slated for Wednesday in Valdosta at 5:00.
