VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Back in December, the Valdosta High School football team captured their first State Championship since 1998. It was the program's 24th overall, and on Friday, the 'Cats celebrated that title once again by receiving their State Championship rings.
This season was one for the books, as along with the State title, the 'Cats recorded their 900th program win, becoming the first high school in the country to do so.
"I want to say, this right here is a feeling like I never want to forget," said tight end Jontae Baker of receiving his ring. "This ring is a good feeling, because I can always look back at it, and memories can just pop up in my head out of all the moments, all the feelings that we went through, as far as coming together as family."
Valdosta was also invited to play in the Geico State Champions Bowl Series, which featured four of the best high school teams in the country.
