TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Last summer, for the first time in the modern Babe Ruth era, three Tallahassee-Leon Babe Ruth baseball teams won State Championships and made it to Regionals.
For the second time in as many years, we have three more State Champions to talk about, as the 13U, 14U, and 15U TLBR teams all won State last weekend.
Now, all three are gearing up for Regional play, the next step in punching their tickets to the World Series.
The 13's cruised through State, winning the title 11-1, and now, they're working on fine tuning some things before Regionals roll around next week. Head coach Mike Harrison noted he likes this team's chances, and if they just keep doing what they're doing, they will be just fine.
"They're excited more than anything. This group is a group of winners that have played a lot of baseball together," he said. "I have not seen any sign of nerves out of them. They've worked hard, played the game right, and they just go out there and compete every pitch."
"We worked hard and we earned it," said Chris Stanfield on winning State. "We've beat every team and didn't lose a game, so I'm excited. We're just working on our hitting, fielding and trying to get rid of the mental mistakes. Teams are going to be much better so we're going to have to bring our A-game."
Regionals kick off July 26th in Ocala for the 13U squad.
