TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Friday, the Lincoln High auditorium was packed as two volleyball standouts put pen to paper, beginning the next chapter in their athletic careers.
Madison Fitzpatrick, an outside hitter for the Trojans, signed a beach scholarship for the Florida State Seminoles, who finished National Runners-up last season. Teammate Callie Workman signed with the University of North Florida to play both beach and indoor for the Ospreys.
"It's the best thing I've felt in my whole life, this is just great," said Workman. "Honestly I can't even express how excited I am, I'm ready to start that next chapter in my life and the next four years are going to be awesome."
"It's very exciting, I've known I was going to go to FSU for three years now and now just to finally make it official it just really felt pretty good," said Fitzpatrick. "It's so amazing to know I wouldn't be here without my family or my friends and everyone who has constantly been supporting me and it's just a great feeling knowing everyone has your back."
The duo led the Trojans to their first twenty win season in nearly a decade, as well as an appearance in the Regional Semifinals.
