TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - When it comes to high school football, the Godby Cougars are one of the more recognizable names in the state. The program regularly sends guys to play at the next level and this year no different.
What makes this year special is that two Cougars will start their collegiate careers in January, as both quarterback Darius Bradwell and defensive tackle Cedric Wood will both graduate and enroll at Georgia Southern and Florida State respectively come the spring semester.
Both, making things official in front of their peers on Thursday, and both agree they're happy to start the next chapter in their lives.
"I'm blessed. That's all I can say," said Wood, a longtime Seminole fan, who had 51 total tackles this season. "A lot of people that I played with, even here in high school, won't be able to go on to the next level and play football. I'm just thankful for my opportunity, ready to take advantage of it, and not let it fly by me."
"This was a dream come true," said Bradwell, who threw for nearly 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while rushing for over 1,200 more and scoring 16 touchdowns. "I always wanted to play college football, and just to sign today is a great blessing. Just to be up there with my family, like I said, it's a dream come true. I've always dreamed about this adn it came true today."
Bradwell said he plans to study computer engineering, while Wood is undecided on a major. Both were honor students in high school.
