TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 6, 2013) – Although the start of the 2013-14 NJCAA basketball season is still close to two months away, preseason accolades have started to roll in for members of Tallahassee Community College’s men’s basketball team.
Next Up Recruits has released its preseason list of the Top 50 Junior College Players in the country and three members of the Eagles’ basketball team made the cut – rising sophomore Marlon Johnson (No. 9) and freshmen Richard Peters (No. 44) and Cameron Dozier (No. 49).
Johnson, a native of Joliet, Ill., averaged 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in 28 games as a freshman and was named second-team All-Panhandle Conference.
Peters, from Pickering, Ontario, Canada, and Dozier, who hails from Graceville, Fla., have yet to make their collegiate debuts. Peters missed all of the 2012-13 season with an injury while Dozier transferred from Palm Beach State College in January.
The list, which includes players from both NJCAA and non-NJCAA member colleges, is heavily populated with players from the Panhandle Conference. In fact, 16 of the 50 players listed are on PC rosters – in addition to Tallahassee’s trio, Chipola College and Northwest Florida State College had five players each and Gulf Coast State College had three.
