TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WTXL) - The operative word of the week is "landslide".
As in, "Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston is going to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy in a landslide."
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit was the first (at least the first I heard) to use that word in his prediction of what is going to happen Saturday, when the voting for the most prestigious award in all college sports becomes completely public.
The more than 800 Heisman Ballots are due today, and as voters submit those ballots, some of them choose to release the order of their candidates. Stiffarmtrophy.com is an excellent resource to follow how those ballots stack up so far.
According to that site, as of this morning, Monday December 9th, 33 ballots are public with Winston earning first-place votes in 19 of those 33. The Noles' quarterback holds a huge lead over second-place Andre Williams, running back for Boston College, who has just three first-place votes.
We'll track the race for the Heisman all week on WTXL ABC 27, on air and online.
