TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Tuesday was a happy signing day at Lincoln High School, as three Trojan track and field stand-outs signed college scholarships.
Jacquevia Jones inked with Bethune Cookman, while teammates Jasmine Mason and Lonzetta Simpkins are staying close to home and will compete for Florida A&M.
"They have one of the best business programs in the nation and I know that it's a school I can grow in," said Simpkins, a former WTXL Scholar Athlete of the Week. "Track wise, it'll be a family for me. I know the training will be on point, and I plan on making a statement my freshman year."
"I know I worked really, really hard," added Jones. "There were some days I thought I really couldn't make it, but my supporters, my family and my friends, they all helped me make it and get through it so I'm pretty excited."
The three signings Tuesday marked over two dozen for track and field at Lincoln over the last four years.
"It just never gets old," said head coach Corey Poole. "That's what gives me to motivation each year to continue serving this kids is this. To help them reach the next level, becoming amazing people in the community, so no, it doesn't get old."
