TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - On Tuesday, three Leon track and field stand-outs took advantage of the spring signing period.

Jymece Grimsley signed with the University of Mobile, and has focused on many events during her career at Leon. Her relay team went on to establish the school’s record in the 4x400m relay at the 2017 FSU Relays.

"Today is really exciting," she said. "Seeing all of my friends and family here supporting me. It's just a really great feeling."

Do it all athlete Justin Peter made things official with South Florida. At the state track meet, he has been a multiple medalist the last two years, finishing 2017 as a region champion in the 300 hurdles, also medaling in the long jump and as a member of the school record holding 4x400m relay team.

"I've seen people on TV and social media with them having their signing days. To be honest, I never thought I'd be at that position!" he exclaimed. "It's really good seeing people out here supporting me and it feels good to have people who want to see me succeed."

Long distance specialist Matthew Cashin has been recognized as one of the state’s top 10 cross country runners. Next year, he'll run for the Ospreys of the University of North Florida. He has been a region champion as well as the All-Big Bend Cross Country runner of the year in 2015.

"All the culmination of four years of running and the hard work that goes in six days a week, just really paid off," he said.
