THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - Two weeks ago, the Thomasville boys basketball team won their first State Championship in school history.
It was a big win for a community that'd been waiting for this moment for a long time. On Thursday, the Bulldogs celebrated that State title with the community with a parade through downtown Thomasville, followed by an autograph session and a BBQ at the high school.
It's a win that's still sinking in for the team, and to be able to share this with the city? Priceless.
"You see all of the community coming together whether you went to Central, Brookwood or what have you," said head coach Ben Tillman. "Everybody is celebrating the fact that we were able to win, and that's important. We were able to bridge the gap between all three schools and everybody come out and support us and that's what it's about."
"They celebrated all of our wins throughout the season and enjoyed watching us play games so it's real nice being able to give back and celebrate with them," added senior Reggie Perry.
Thomasville is still trying to raise money to pay for their State Championship rings. Diablo's Southwest Grill will donate a percentage of sales on Saturday, March 24th to help purchase the rings. Just mention you are there for the "Thomasville Basketball Team Percentage Day" to help out.
