MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) - The Thomasville boys basketball team had quite the year in 2018, winning a State Championship. The goal this year? To repeat.

The journey to do that begins this week, when Thomasville hosts Butler in the first round of the G-H-S-A Double-A Playoffs.

This team fell in the Region Championship, settling for the two seed, but they're motivated to show everyone what they're all about.

"I want them to feel that pressure. I want them to feel that it's exciting enough that hey, not everybody gets that chance to play in a State Championship," said head coach Ben Tillman. "You have four teams out of every Region in the State of Georgia, and everybody else has gone home. You should feel privileged you made it, but at the same time, those four teams that did make it they're ready to beat your head in. I just know we can put in a lot of hard work, and we'll just keep working hard and let the chips fall where they may."

Thomasville hosts Butler on Saturday at 7:30 at Thomasville High School.

In Florida, District Tournaments are being played across the Big Bend, and on Tuesday, Florida High sealed up a big 5A-2 Semifinal victory over Gadsden County,67-26. They'll face Marianna on Friday for the District 2 title.
