TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 26, 2019) – NJCAA No. 8/Region 8 No. 3 Chipola College outscored No. 16/No. 4 Tallahassee Community College, 27-15, over the final 13 minutes and defeated the Eagles, 77-66, in men’s basketball action on Saturday evening.
Tallahassee (19-4) is now 3-3 in Panhandle Conference play, two games back of Chipola (21-2, 4-1) in the loss column.
Chipola scored the final five points of the first half to take a 41-36 lead to the locker room and led 47-41 less than three minutes into the second half. Tallahassee responded with seven unanswered points, capped by Mustafa Lawrence’s three-pointer, to grab a 48-47 lead with 15:11 left in the game.
The Eagles took their final lead of the night, 51-50, at the 13:21 mark on a basket by Salisu Yahaya. Chipola scored the next seven points and never trailed again.
Tallahassee was still within five, 63-58, with 7:43 remaining but the Indians knocked down consecutive three-pointers to all but put the game away.
Jalen Dalcourt led three Tallahassee players in double-figures with 17. Eric Boone had 12 points and nine assists. Deven Palmer finished with 11.
Tallahassee will return to play on Saturday, February 2 when it hosts Pensacola State College at 5 p.m.
